Antisocial motorcycle riders confronted

Swift action by IWCA activist Dave Troth ensured two nuisance riders were stopped in their tracks in August.

Leys resident Mr Troth said, ‘It was about 7pm. I was walking my dog and the motorcycles came screaming past me. They were shooting up and down the roads and bridleways where they are not supposed to be riding.’

Mr Troth called the police, who came out within 15 minutes and confiscated the bikes for not being insured and being ridden without a licence.

Dave Troth’s seven year-old Staffordshire bull terrier Jazz was hit by an illegally-ridden motorbike in Blackberry Lane near Grenoble Road in August last year, suffering horrific wounds to her face. Prior to this incident, Mr Troth, who was also knocked down, had called on the authorities to tackle the problem of antisocial riders plaguing residents with their noisy bikes.

In June last year a police community support officer was injured at the same spot when she was run down by a youth riding a stolen moped.

Dave Troth said, ‘It’s only a matter of time before they kill a child walking past. That’s why it’s got to stop.’
